Reflections

I would divide my reflection into 2 parts, First for the subject and Second for my teacher.

Reflection to ENG-380 English for International Trade.
At the first time that I saw this course in minor subject list, I was interested this course and I planed that I had to study the course next term because I thought this course was very suitable for me and my major(international Economics). For this course, I expected the content of subject and new teacher. For the content of subject, I expected to what is international business on the world? And how can I use English for professional communication in business? After I finished this course, I thought I chose really right course although this course described by English, I do would do my best. Moreover I got a lot of new knowledge and skill; 4p, Product, Price, Placement and Promotion etc. And then I practiced to analysis business information in English version; it's very difficult for me. Because of vocabulary in business context, I had them little and I wasn't English major student but I would try to do it best.


Reflection to my teacher (Aj.Gob)
At the first time, I met you in order to want you to permit me to study this course. Unfortunately, you could not permit me to study this course because of the classes was full. I felt sad because I wanted to study this course but finally, I studied this course ^^.
I have not much to comment you because you are very excellent teacher. Do you know? You are very funny and generous person. Every time that I study this course, I couldn't stop to laugh in the class. Therefore I am very happy while I am studying this course with you. You are the teacher that has marketing knowledge a lot. Sometime I think you are the teacher at my management school ^^. You teach me marketing knowledge since beginning to professional. It is very cool for me. And then I want to thank you so much about your suggestion for my work or study in the future. You make me understand many thing and make me see my way to next step. Finally, I am not going to forget you.

You are my best memory of teacher at this university. If I have a chance to come the university. I really am going to visit you .

Promotion strategy


The Harley-Davidson Corporation has found multiple ways to implement its promotion strategy. Harley-Davidson's primary promotional tool since 1983 has been the HOG(Harley Owners Group). The company's advertisements and commercials are focused around female images. The most bikers are males, the HOG advertising campaign has been successful for decades. Harley-Davidson also uses another strong promotional campaign through it's cafes, located in most dealerships. Harley-Davidson has also developed an interactive website (www.harley-davidson.com). The website gives the company the chance to expand its operations online. Finally, Harley-Davidson's most important promotional tool is the brand image of a truly American product. Such a tool appeals to the domestic market, and owning a Harley-Davidson bike fits well into supporting the national feelings of pride for America.

The key successful factors of Harley-Davidson motorcycle is the unique of product that is multi models. Each model has the option particularly in using. And then the imagination of Harley-Davidson and branding is the cause to Harley-Davidson is difference from other motorcycle brands. All make Harley-Davidson becomes the first brand that the most people around the world remember and love it.

Freedom & Braveness

Imagination of Harley-Davidson through the advertisement and the movie, including negative imagination revolt the society or positive imagination about friendship on the road. All reply the demand of the most people that want to have freedom and these demand having everywhere on the world therefore Harley-Davidson becomes first brand in heart of customers around the world.

1. Participation
Normally, The person want to participate in their group or something that are important more than themselves. This requirement makes the human gather into a group. In case of Harley-Davidson, the person possesses Harley-Davidson to make him feel to become same group of other one having Harley-Davidson.
2. Dream
The dream that a day they will become the member of the brand. If they believe the and love the brand. They would try to possess the brand although the brand is very expensive. The brand makes their dream perfect.

Target Market


In the past, Customers of Harley-Davidson are Baby Boomer. Baby Boomers are a mid-aged men, about 40 years old up, and they have high revenue to estimate 78,000 dollar/month. Nowadays, Harley-Davidson aims the group of Gen X and Gen Y that are rich.

Gen X is a group of the person that is 31-45 years old. The personality of the group is to like to do everything easily, don't like formal matter, don't care work a lot and interest the balance between the work and family.

Gen Y is a group of the person that is 20-30 years old. The personality of the group is vey ambitious and confident. And then they have knowledge about technology a lot and they like challenging in their work.

Including the customer of Harley-Davidson must be rich or their revenue is rather high.

Harley-Davidson are similar to other big bike motorcycle brand, but Harley-Davidson pay attention riding lifestyle of the customers. Thus we can divide Harley-Davidson product into 5 kinds such as SPORTSTER, DYNA, SOFTAIL, VRSC and TOURING. Each kind can divide several models.

The famed ''Bar & Shield'' logo is used for the first time. The Harley-Davidson logo communicates their brand name under orange and white. It's clearly and simple. Moreover, the logo looks professional and modern.

Company background


The Harley-Davidson motorcycle began in Milwaukee in 1903. In Milwaukee, Bill Harley and Arthur Walter Davidson developed a one-cylinder motorcycle. It was a reliable and even a beautiful cycle. Around the turn of the century the gasoline engine was developed and the one-cylinder motor was introduced. In 1905 they had made 11 motorcycles, in 1908 it were 154 and ... they had a company, in a little wooden barn, that was build by Davidson's father. This motorcycle was initially built for racing and was powered by a one-cylinder gasoline combustion engine.

Rationale


Motorcycle and men can't not separate at all; I believe the most of men around the world agree this statement. I am a general man who loves spees and freedom since I was a child so it's not unusual that I want to have something that can react my desire completely. Nowadays, there are many brands of motorcycle that can react men's desire. A brand of all that I love a lot is Harley-Davidson and I think the men around the world love this brand too. Harley-Davidson is very old more than 100 years and to be a legend wonderfully too. Thus, I want you to know the brand deeply.

6 nd week


Luck is ''what happens when preparation meets opportunity'' I like this statement so much and you (Aj. Gob) have ever taught me about it. This week we reviewed the context of the examination. And then we got the role play about greeting in social business. When the time that showed the role play arrived, I felt very exciting because I didn't play the role before in the past and my friends could speak English very well. In the situation I got a new advertiser of a company and I had to greet colleagues since a secretary to the boss. I was very funny. After showing the role play, we took a picture with another group. I felt very happy because taking a picture was like recording memory. And then we went to the dormitory. Thank you for my new experience.

5 nd week

The time has never wait everyone. I think about the statement every tine when I wake up. The class has finished on 5 rd week. First thing that I learned was presentation tips. They were easy but we could not use them well because we did not practice them. And then I learned about interview issues. They were very important because if you did't know about the information of the company that you wanted to work. Your opportunity was lost. Last I learned about the principle of blog design. They made me understand to build my blog well.

4 nd week

When I entered the class, I felt exciting every time because I would learn new knowledge about brand. First I learned about Market mix such as Product, Promotion, Price, Place. The product strategy is from product + service. Normally, the most customers will buy the good when they are very confident with the brand so the producers must do their brand very value. Second I learned about Product management(Phillip Kotler). there are 3 process.
1. Create a customer value
- What does a customer want ?
- Product meat to them.
2. Positioning(Unique selling point)
- A customer's feeling such as price, quality, service, desigh etc.
3. Branding
- Promise, brand value, slogan, logo etc.
These knowledge are very useful for business and lifestyle.

What did I learn from the Victoriassecret.com ?

I learned about increasing sales by advertising on website. The website of Victoriassecret.com is very different from other brands' website. They will upgrade their data every time that new products were produced. The website made various menu that easy using. I learned about using the website to decrease the cost of the company and increasing the customers. The catalogue is very important to introduce the products on website so the catalogue should describe the products delicately and colorful.

3 nd week


In the class, I learned making a blog, writing articles on a blog, researching and analysis about the market. I have not known about analysis or researching about the good. I saw new knowledge about product strategy (for instance researching, analysis, target marketing, positoning, and branding) , promotion strategy (such as what makes the brand recognized etc.) and writng about reflecting.
